Student Spot Light

Many of you are doing excellent work on your blog posts. Let me highlight just a few.

Josh provides an impressive historical overview of the use of blue and pink for boys and girls. Though his post isn't expressly about gender and media, it does complicate the idea of gendering something like colors, and since it is important to understand the history of something in order to effectively analyze its use in media, Josh's post is more than relevant.

Arianna asks a thought provoking question in one of her posts: "Is the obsession of older men- younger women taking over the tween movieverse?" I would add a question of my own. If we answer that yes, indeed movie makers are increasingly casting women much younger (or at least ones that look much younger) than their male love interests, what does that tell us? Why don't we see the roles reversed?

Anthony examines conflicting representations of femininity in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and analyzes the ways in which those representations are impacted and transformed by the fact that the movie was written and directed by a man.

These are but a few of the really great posts out there. Keep up the excellent work!
